RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, ratify a recognition and approve recognitions to be delivered at a later date.
DISCUSSION:
At various times throughout the year, the City Council recognizes outstanding individuals, groups, and organizations for their extraordinary achievements and/or contributions to the Anaheim community. Council has the discretion to issue Proclamations, Declarations, and Certificates of Recognition to these deserving parties.
The following have been recommended to receive a Proclamation or Certificate of Recognition:
Ratify Certificate: Recognizing City Clerk Theresa Bass for receiving the City Clerks Association of California 2024 Municipal Clerk of the Year Award (Requested by Mayor Aitken).
Certificate: Recognizing Strong Water Anaheim for receiving Orange County’s sole nomination for the 2024 James Beard Foundation Awards (Requested by Mayor Aitken).
Certificate: Recognizing Anaheim Elementary School District Superintendent Dr.
Christopher Downing’s retirement (Requested by Mayor Aitken). Certificate: Recognizing Sister Johnellen Turner, OP for her 17 years of service to St.
Catherine’s Academy (Requested by Mayor Aitken).
Proclamation: Recognizing May 4, 2024 as Rio Vista Elementary PTA Day (Requested by City Staff).
Proclamation: Recognizing May 2024 as National Cities, Towns, and Villages Month (Requested by Mayor Aitken).
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no budgetary impact.
