RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Resolution, set a public hearing date of May 21, 2024, to consider a proposed vacation/abandonment of a segment of Orange Avenue right-of-way described as lying east of Brookhurst Street and directly adjacent to Lot 2 of Tract No. 19192.
DISCUSSION:
OrangeAveM 2024, LLC, a California limited liability company, has requested this abandonment in order to assemble the proposed vacated/abandoned street right-of-way with Lot 2 of Tract No 19192. City Council approved Tentative Map No. 19192 on February 28, 2023, in conjunction with General Plan Amendment No. 2023-012 and Conditional Use Permit No. 2023-013, which approval allowed for the construction of a residential development consisting of 24 townhomes. Then, on February 27, 2024, the Final Map and Subdivision Agreement were approved. This segment of Orange Avenue proposed for abandonment is undeveloped and falls outside the ultimate right-of-way.
The scheduling of this public hearing is part of the general vacation procedures set forth by the Street and Highway Code and is exempt from the Surplus Land Act.
IMPACT ON THE BUDGET:
There is no budgetary impact for scheduling the public hearing.
