The Anaheim Convention Center has over 300 security cameras onsite to ensure the safety of the guests attending events in the City. The current primary storage device for the camera recordings for archival purposes is a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device manufactured by Dell Computers and is connected to the NAS for the rest of the City.

This NAS device will hit its end-of-life date on November 13, 2024, and will no longer be supported by Dell’s Technical Support Team. Without this critical support, despite the built-in redundancies, this device can fail and take with it all of the City’s saved video files and prevent the cameras from writing any new video data.

Dell has provided an upgrade path for the City to replace this device with a new PowerScale device that will be supported well past the City’s standard six-year life cycle for storage devices. In addition to continuing support for camera and video storage, the new device will have better performance and uptime to better deliver and protect city data and be able to communicate seamlessly with the other Dell NAS devices citywide.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Sufficient funds are available in the Convention Center’s Department Fiscal Year 2023/24 Budget.

Respectfully submitted, Concurred by,
Jered Rakosky Thomas Morton
Purchasing Agent Executive Director
