CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
DATE: MAY 7, 2024
FROM: FINANCE DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: AWARD PURCHASE ORDER FOR ESCALATOR STEP

REPLACEMENT AT THE ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): NO ITEM # 07
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: NO
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion:
1) Award a purchase order to Fujitec America, Inc., in the amount of $340,182 plus applicable tax, to replace 286 escalator steps at the Anaheim Convention Center (ACC); and
2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent, or their designee, to execute documents, as necessary, related to the purchase order.

DISCUSSION:

The Purchasing Division posted Request for Bids # 9781 on the City’s bid portal. Four responsive bids were received by the April 15, 2024 due date from the following vendors:

Bidder Total Bid
Fujitec America, Inc. $340,182.00
Santa Fe Springs, CA
Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. $351,228.07
Cypress, CA
Elevators Etc $361,339.88
Los Angeles, CA
Amtech Elevator Services $414,000.00
Cerritos, CA
DISCUSSION:

The solicitation required contractors to remove 286 steps from two escalators and replacing them with 286 Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) black steps featuring yellow demarcation strips. Additionally, contractors were required to supply four Award Purchase Order for Escalator Step Replacement at the Anaheim Convention Center May 7, 2024

additional OEM steps for attic stock and provide a minimum one-year warranty covering both workmanship and materials.

The Convention Center’s escalators are among the first things visitors notice when attending events like the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), Natural Products Expo West, and WonderCon. By replacing the steps on the heavily used escalators connecting the main lobby to the second floor, we can improve both their operational efficiency and overall appearance.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Sufficient funds are available in the Convention Centers FY 2023/24 budget.

Respectfully submitted, Concurred by,
Jered Rakosky Thomas Morton
Purchasing Agent Executive Director
