RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, adopt an ordinance amending Chapter 14.40 of Title 14 of the Anaheim Municipal Code relating to speed limits on city streets.
DISCUSSION:
On June 11, 2024, Council introduced an ordinance amending Chapter 14.40 of Title 14 of the Anaheim Municipal Code, Pursuant to Sections 22357 and 22358 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, setting the prima facie speed limits in the City of Anaheim. The ordinance requires a second reading, and if adopted, will be effective in 30 days.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds are available in the Public Works Department’s General Fund budget for street sign maintenance to modify and/or install the legally enforceable speed limit signs.
