SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD SERVICES

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, waive the bidding requirement of Council Policy 4.0 and approve the ratification of the Addendum to the Agreement with American Guard Services, Inc., to extend the contract term from July 1, 2024 - August 30, 2024, and increase the compensation accordingly by $80,000 for summer school crossing guard services.
DISCUSSION:
In June 2018, the City Council authorized the award of RFP #9126 to American Guard Services to provide crossing guard services. The contract provides approximately 32,320 hours of crossing guard services and 3,840 hours of supervisory services annually. The City is requesting a two-month extension of this agreement. American Guard Services is maintaining their current rates of $32.49 for crossing guards and $34.29 for supervisors, with a sum of the cost of services not to exceed $80,000 for this extension. This addendum will provide continuity of service during the summer school session and permit the City to finalize a new award recommendation. City Staff issued RFP #9780 for crossing guard services and are currently drafting an agreement with a new crossing guard company. The intent is to present the award recommendation to the Council in the coming month.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds have been allocated in the Police Department’s proposed Fiscal Year 2024/25 General Fund Budget.
