RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council nominate and appoint a voting delegate and up to two voting alternates to the League of California Cities (Cal Cities) Annual Conference, to be held on October 16 – 18, 2024.
DISCUSSION:
The Annual 2024 Cal Cities Conference is scheduled for October 16 – 18, 2024 in Long Beach, California. During this conference, Cal Cities will hold the General Assembly on Friday, October 18, where the membership participates in the development and acts on conference resolutions that establish Cal Cities policy.
Cal Cities bylaws provides that any city official (elected or city staff) of a Member City may, with the approval of the City Council, be designated the City’s designated voting delegate. The bylaws provide that each Member City is entitled to one vote on matters pertaining to Cal Cities policy.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funds for the Cal Cities annual conference are included in the City Council’s FY 2024/25 General Fund budget.
