ATTACHMENT (Y/N): NO ITEM # 06
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: NO
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, accept the bid from Spectrum Gas Products, Inc. for the purchase of oxygen for the Anaheim Fire and Rescue Department, in the amount of $38,812 plus applicable tax and a 25% contingency, for a one-year period with four, one-year optional renewals; and authorize the Purchasing Agent to exercise the renewal options, all in accordance with Bid #9818.

Bidders Bid Price
Spectrum Gas Products, Inc. $38,812.00
Anaheim, CA
The bid was based on the estimated annual usage of medical oxygen, cylinder rentals, cylinder testing, repair labor and supplies. Emergency vehicles are equipped with medical oxygen to enhance patient care, our firefighters administer oxygen therapy for various medical conditions such as cardiac and respiratory conditions. By equipping emergency vehicles with medical oxygen firefighters can provide critical intervention that begins immediately upon arrival without the need to wait for ambulance transport.
Immediate access to oxygen therapy improves survival rates for critical emergencies and aligns with best practices for emergency medical services.
The term of the agreement will be for a one-year period with up to four one-year optional renewals. There is no express or implied commitment to a specific volume of services during the term of the agreement. Pricing for the renewal periods shall be negotiated each year with any increases not-to-exceed the change in the Consumer Price Index for the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim areas for the preceding twelve-month period.
