Dear Ms. Lauffer:
Westgate Resorts appreciates the City's continued consideration as we continue to work to comply with the Development Agreement.
Westgate and its partners continue to work to try and expedite the construction of the Vacation Ownership Resort No. 1. Challenges have included ensuring meeting standards of a national hotel "Flag," as well as certification and design of new and innovative building types. These challenges, while frustrating, have forced continued innovation on our part and we are confident as we progress toward building permits, which we are aware are delayed given the last extension that was granted.
While we are not currently in default of the timeframes established by the Development Agreement, we do not believe that we will be able to pull permits and begin construction of Vacation Ownership Resort No. 1 by April 15, 2025, as required. In advance of this date, we will submit a request to the City to amend the Development Agreement to extend the timeframes for performance.
We appreciate your work and partnership to help make this addition to the Resort area a reality.
