ACTION:
That the City Council, by Ordinance, amend Chapter 6.30 of the Anaheim Municipal Code (“AMC”) Nunc Pro Tunc to include sections inadvertently omitted from Ordinance No. 6591, which recently amended Chapter 6.30.
DISCUSSION:
On October 29, 2024, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 6591, which extended the AMC’s smoking ban to public parks, prohibited smoking within a specified distance of schools, day care facilities, and public transit stops, and clarified certain definitions, including the definition of smoking. However, the version of Ordinance No. 6591 presented to Council inadvertently omitted two existing sections of Chapter 6.30-- subsections .066 and .080, which prohibit smoking at the Anaheim Arena (Honda Center) and in Indoor Service Lines, respectively. The proposed Ordinance that is attached corrects this omission.
On December 17, 2024, the City Council unanimously introduced the proposed Ordinance to correct the omissions. If adopted, the ordinance will become effective in 30 days.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
This Ordinance is an administrative clean-up measure and will have no budgetary impact.
