City of Anaheim
FINANCE DEPARTMENT
DATE: JANUARY 28, 2025
FROM: FINANCE DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF BID FROM NOUVEAU ELEVATOR

AT THE ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): NO ITEM # 06
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: NO
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, accept the bid from Nouveau Elevator California, in the amount of $290,999, to replace 200 escalator steps from escalators 9 and 10 at the Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) and authorize the Purchasing Agent or their designee to issue a purchase order and execute documents as necessary, all in accordance with Bid #9852.
DISCUSSION:
The Central Purchasing Office posted Request for Bids #9852 on the City’s online bid portal. Electronic bids were received by 2:00 p.m., December 4, 2024, from the following vendors:
Bidder Total Bid
Nouveau Elevator California $290,999.00
Walnut, CA
Mitsubishi Electric, Inc. $313,564.81
Cypress, CA
KONE Inc. $382,337.10
Costa Mesa, CA
DISCUSSION:
The solicitation required contractors to remove 200 steps from escalators 9 and 10 and replace them with 200 KONE Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) black steps featuring yellow demarcation strips. Additionally, contractors were required to supply four additional OEM steps for attic stock and provide a minimum one-year warranty covering workmanship and materials.
Acceptance of Bid for Escalators 9& 10 Step Replacement at the Anaheim Convention Center January 28, 2025
The Convention Center’s escalators are among the first things visitors notice when attending events like the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), Natural Products Expo West, and WonderCon. Replacing the steps on the heavily used escalators connecting the second floor to the third floor will restore operational efficiency and overall appearance, providing the world-class appearance the Anaheim Convention Center is known for.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds are available in the Convention Center’s FY 2024/25 budget.

Kari Bouffard Thomas Morton, Executive Director
