SORINEX EXERCISE EQUIPMENT, INC., FOR THE PURCHASE
AND INSTALLATION OF EXERCISE EQUIPMENT
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 11
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: NO
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, approve Contract Number MA# 106-498312 with Sorinex Exercise Equipment, Inc., (Sorinex) and the City of Anaheim (City), effective upon all necessary signatures through and including April 29, 2029; in an amount not to exceed $257,876.87 (which includes all applicable taxes and fees), for the purchase and installation of exercise equipment for the Anaheim Police Department (APD), and authorize the Purchasing Agent to execute the Contract and related documents.
DISCUSSION:
The Anaheim Police Department (APD) was allocated $260,472 in grant funds from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) Officer Wellness and Mental Health Grant. The Officer Wellness and Mental Health Grant Program was established in the State of California 2022 Budget Act (Assembly Bill 178, Chapter 45, Statutes of 2022) and provided $50 million for city and county law enforcement agencies for the purpose of improving officer wellness and expanding mental health sources. The allowable uses of the grant program are broad in nature by design so that each recipient can determine how to utilize the funds to best meet the needs of the peace officers within their respective agency. A portion of the allocated funding will be used to purchase fitness equipment to update existing aging gym equipment and expand the equipment available to officers to enhance officer wellness. APD’s Training Detail worked with the department’s contracted Hoag Wellness Coordinator to determine which equipment to procure to enhance officer wellness. The equipment will be placed in existing spaces designated for fitness within APD’s main station and east station facilities.
The use of the cooperative agreement is fully compliant with City Council Policy 4.0 and purchasing regulations.
Approve Contract Number MA# 106-498312 for purchase and installation of exercise equipment January 28, 2025
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds are available in the Police Department’s Fiscal Year 2024/25 Restricted Law Enforcement Grant Funds budget. Funding for subsequent years will be subject to Council’s approval of budget appropriations.
Respectfully submitted, Concurred by,
Kari Bouffard Rick Armendariz
Purchasing Agent Chief of Police
