TheBetter WayAnaheim Program has assisted ourschool district withserving those inneedinourcommunity including ourfood distribution andhealth products distribution. TheBetter WayAnaheim Program provided both energy andsupport toourorganization andweappreciated their contribution oftime, energy and service. Below aresomeother examples oftheirsupport tothecommunity:

TheBetter WayAnaheim Program hasprovided opportunities forthoseExperiencing Homelessness toserve theneeds ofthecommunity byworking atFoodPantries, inCity Parks andinneighborhoods tohelpmeettheneeds ofourfamilies andmakethe community abetterplace.

WHEREAS, theCityofAnaheimrecognizes thattheArabslavetradeexportedaround25millionslaves frombothcoastsofAfricabetweentheseventhandnineteenthcenturies; WHEREAS, theCityofAnaheimrecognizesthatslaverydirectedagainstblackAfricansisanabomination thatstillexiststodayacrossnorthernAfricaandtheMiddleEastthatcannolongerbetolerated; and WHEREAS, accordingtotheGlobalSlaveryIndex, 84,000AfricansareheldasslavesinAlgeria, 47,000in Libya, and149,000inMauritania; and, accordingtoChristianSolidarityInternational, perhaps35,000 AfricansremainenslavedinSudannearlytwodecadesaftertheendofaself-declaredjihadwhich causedthesouthtosecedeandconstituteitself, since2011, astheworld’snewestnation – South Sudan; and
WHEREAS, ArabmilitiasequippedandlegitimizedbythegovernmentofArabSudancontinuetoterrorize un-ArabizedblackMuslimsinwesternSudan, particularlytheDarfurprovince, massacring themen, carryingoffthewomenaschattelslaves, andresettlingArabMuslimnomadsontheirethnically cleansedancestrallands, astheyhavedoneintermittently since1995; and WHEREAS, accordingtoresearchin2020bytheofficeofTolulopeAkande-Sadipe, memberofthe NigerianHouseofRepresentatives forOyoStateandChairoftheHouseCommitteeonDiasporaAffairs, perhaps80,000womenfromNigeriaalonehavebeentraffickedassexslavesacrossLebanon, Mali, Oman, SaudiArabia, andtheUnitedArabEmirates; and
WHEREAS, theIslamicterroristorganizationBokoHaramalongwithFulaniMuslimdeathsquadsin northernNigeriahavemurderedmorethan50,000Christianssince2009andhaveenslavedperhaps 4,000Christianchildrenandteenagers, particularlyyounggirls, forthepurposeofsexualbondage; and WHEREAS, duetothedifficultyinobtainingaccurate, in-depthinformation, aswellasthemainstream mediaandhumanrightsgroups’ typicaldisinterestintheseatrocities, itishighlylikelythatmuchofthe jihadmassacresandslave-takingexistsinotherregionsbesetbyjihadistsacrossNorthAfrica; BEITRESOLVEDthattheCityofAnaheimstandsinsolidaritywiththevictimsofjihadslaveryand slaughterincludingthepeopleofSouthSudan, DarfurandNigeriawhohaveenduredmurder, oppression andenslavementbyjihadists.

BEITRESOLVEDthattheCityofAnaheimstandsinhumanitarian solidaritywithallpeopleenslavedand demandstheirimmediateliberationbyallmeanspossible.
