CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
DATE: MAY 13, 2025
FROM: FINANCE DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE AMENDMENT NUMBER ONE TO CONTRACT
MA# 106-498192 WITH ORTIZ CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY FOR

MODULAR FURNITURE REPAIR SERVICES AT THE

ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 16
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: YES
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, authorize Amendment Number One to Contract MA# 106-498192 with Ortiz Custom Upholstery, Inc. to increase the annual not-to-exceed amount from $67,000 to $130,000, and establish a cumulative not-to-exceed amount of $650,000 over the term of the contract, including four optional one year renewal periods, for the purchase of as-needed modular furniture repair services for the Anaheim Convention Center; and authorize the Purchasing Agent, or their designee, to execute all documents necessary to implement this amendment and any future renewal periods.

DISCUSSION:

The contract with Ortiz Custom Upholstery, Inc. for modular furniture repair services was approved by City Council on October 8, 2024, with an initial not-to-exceed amount of $67,000. This amount was based on anticipated as-needed repairs and replacement parts. All services and parts are ordered on an as-needed basis, with no guarantee or implied commitment to purchase a specific quantity over the term of the contract.

During the early months of 2025, the Anaheim Convention Center hosted major events—including the Natural Products Expo, NAMM, and WonderCon—that drew significant attendance. This heavy utilization resulted in noticeable wear and tear—and, in some cases, damage—to the facility’s modular furniture. To maintain the professional appearance and comfort of the Convention Center for upcoming events, an increase to the not-to-exceed amount is being requested. This adjustment will allow staff to respond promptly to repair needs and help preserve the overall guest experience.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Sufficient funds are available in the Convention Centers FY 2024/25 budget. Funding for subsequent renewal years is subject to budget appropriations.
