ACTION:
That the City Council receive a presentation regarding programs and services for Seniors and Older Adults offered by the Community Services Department [informational item].
DISCUSSION:
At the City Council Meeting on March 4, 2025, Council Member Kurtz requested a report on staffing, resources and services for older adult programs throughout the City, as well as plans for 2025.
In 2023, the Community Services Department received additional funding from City Council to expand existing programs and services for seniors and older adults. This entailed increasing staffing levels to provide greater opportunities that promote wellness, social engagement, and recreational opportunities through diverse activities and services.
The department responded by creating programs across six “hubs” citywide, promoting physical, mental, and social well-being for seniors and older adults. The programs offer activities, services, and support to enhance the quality of life for seniors and older adults, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and community engagement. As we expand programming and services into 2025, we continue to utilize community input from the recent Anaheim Community Needs Assessment coordinated by the Anaheim Community Foundation, as well as feedback from partner organizations.

There is no budgetary impact.
