The bid was based on the estimated annual purchase of approximately 2,400 meters across four different types and sizes for both commercial and residential meter replacement and new development projects. The meters will be purchased on an as- needed basis and must be capable of communicating with the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) program that will enable data to be collected remotely. One of the key benefits of the AMI program is that it will identify potential leaks on customer properties in a timely manner.
The agreement will be established for an initial one (1) year term, with up to four (4) optional one (1) year renewals. While the estimated annual volume is 2,400 meters, actual quantities may vary depending on the operational needs of the Public Utilities Department. To prepare for potential cost fluctuations, bidders were required to submit fixed unit pricing for each of the optional renewal periods.
There is no guarantee or implied commitment to purchase a specific quantity over the life of the contract. Orders will be placed on an as-needed basis to meet demand.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds are available in the Public Utilities Department’s Fiscal Year 2024/25 Budget. Funding for subsequent purchases will be subject to Council’s approval of budget appropriations.
Respectfully submitted, Concurred by,
Kari Bouffard Dukku Lee
Purchasing Agent Utilities General Manager
