On behalf of the Building Industry Associationof SouthernCalifornia - Orange County Chapter (BIA/OC), I write to reiteratethe flawed approachof adding regulatorybarriersandnewcoststo theproductionof housingin thehopesof creating morehousing.
Although this vote is simply for the establishmentof a $10sf/ft in-lieu fee for apartmentconstruction, andnot a substantivevoteon theInclusionaryPolicy itself, thefactremainsthatwith this vote, thecity will codify a financialhurdleon housing production.
As jurisdictionsacrossCaliforniabeginto realizethatInclusionaryZoningis afailed approach, it is regrettableto seeAnaheimcontinuethis path. We look forwardto a futurewheresuchbarriersarereconsideredandthehousingcrisisis treatedasacrisis, with barriersremovedand production unleashedso that anyonelooking to call Anaheimhome, hasthatopportunity.
