A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM UPDATING AND
APPROVING THE CITYWIDE AND
DEPARTMENT RECORDS RETENTION
SCHEDULES
WHEREAS, Section 34090 et seq. of the Government Code of the State of California provides for the retention and destruction of certain records, documents, instruments, books and papers; and
WHEREAS, to implement and assure compliance with the provisions of Section 34090 of the Government Code, Section 1.10.100 of the Anaheim Municipal Code requires each department of the City of Anaheim to develop a Records Retention Schedule for all municipal records in the custody of such department which schedule shall be deemed the official Records Retention Schedule for such department upon the approval thereof by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the aforesaid provisions and requirements, each Department within the City of Anaheim has heretofore developed a Records Retention Schedule for all records under the charge of various department heads of the City of Anaheim, which schedule has heretofore been approved by the City Council (the "Department Retention Schedule"); and
WHEREAS, also in accordance with the aforesaid provisions and requirements, the City of Anaheim has developed a Citywide Retention Schedule for all City records, which schedule has been approved by the City Council ("Citywide Retention Schedule"); and
WHEREAS, changes have been recommended to the Citywide and Department Records Retention Schedules in the attached exhibit; and WHEREAS, each department of the City of Anaheim has reviewed their respective Records Retention Schedule and recommends approval thereof; and WHEREAS, the City Council concurs with the recommended Citywide and Department Records Retention Schedules as hereinafter set forth.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Citywide and Department Records Retention Schedules, as more particularly set forth in Exhibit “A” attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference, are hereby approved.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Citywide and Department Records Retention Schedules approved herein shall supersede any previously adopted Citywide and/or Department Record Retention Schedules.
