2. Increase the Anaheim Police Department’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26 General Fund Expense Budget by $115,557.64
DISCUSSION:

The Anaheim Police Department Foundation is a non-profit, independent organization that provides critical resources to the Anaheim Police Department in support of their mission to maintain a safe community to live, work and play. The crucial funding provided by the Anaheim Police Department Foundation directly enhances the department’s ability to proactively impact crime, ensure they are a high performing organization and to enhance their community relationships. The Anaheim Police Department Foundation accomplishes this by investing in state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technology; advanced professional development and training programs; and employee safety and wellness programs, for the women and men of the Anaheim Police Department. Each of these areas are frequently impacted by diminishing government resources and the goal of the Anaheim Police Department Foundation is to bring additional support to the needs of the department.

The Anaheim Police Department Foundation secured $115,557.64 from various donors to enable the Police Department to acquire two (2) additional pan-tilt zoom cameras and eleven (11) automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras, along with associated parts, services, and warranty. This funding will expand the existing county-wide ALPR Accepting donation of $115,557.64 from the Anaheim Police Department Foundation August 12, 2025

program through the installation of ALPR cameras in the resort area, and place additional pan-tilt zoom cameras in the city to enhance our operational capabilities, including crime prevention, investigative efforts, and situational awareness across the city. This action complies with City of Anaheim Administrative Regulation No. 330.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

The Police Department’s FY 2025/26 General Fund Expense Budget will be increased by $115,557.64.

Respectfully submitted,
Rick P. Armendariz
Chief of Police
