RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Resolution, set a public hearing date of October 28, 2025, to consider a proposed vacation/abandonment of two segments of Santa Ana Street right- of-way described as follows: (1) a segment containing approximately 119 square feet, situated between Olive Street and Philadelphia Street; and (2) a segment containing approximately 1,103 square feet, situated between Philadelphia Street and Claudina Street.
DISCUSSION:
MLC Holdings, LLC, a California limited liability company (doing business as Meritage Homes), has requested the abandonment of two segments of Santa Ana Street right-of- way to incorporate the proposed vacated areas into its adjacent property, located at 275 and 301 East Santa Ana Street. On November 13, 2024, the City Council approved project entitlements, which included the approval of Tentative Tract Map No. 19290, to create a one-lot condominium map to construct 56 townhomes.
These segments of Santa Ana Street proposed for abandonment fall outside the ultimate right-of-way and are not required for current or future public use. The scheduling of this public hearing is part of the general vacation procedures set forth by the Streets and Highways Code and is exempt from the Surplus Land Act.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no budgetary impact for scheduling the public hearing.
