DISCUSSION:

At the City Council Meeting on February 3, 2026, Council Member Norma Campos Kurtz requested an update on the Anaheim Contigo Emergency Assistance Program to provide information on the projected duration of existing funding, the potential need for additional funding, and whether the program is meeting community needs. Mayor Pro Tem Carlos Leon also requested that staff explore options for potential program expansion.

The City Council approved funding for the Anaheim Contigo program in the amount of up to $250,000 on a reimbursement basis to the Anaheim Community Foundation (ACF). The Housing and Community Development Department’s Housing Trust is providing reimbursement funds for housing/rental assistance expenses, with remaining expenses reimbursed by the General Fund. As of February 2, 2026, the ACF has submitted invoices for reimbursement totaling $182,859.17, with a remaining balance of $67,140.83 available to continue to assist qualified Anaheim residents through the ACF Emergency Assistance Fund.

The Housing & Community Development and Community Services Departments are funding the program.

Respectfully submitted,
