Deputy Political Director

I am interested in serving on the Anaheim Workforce Development Board because I am committed to expanding access to quality career pathways and strengthening workforce pipelines. Through both my experience in the field and my current role, I have seen the impact that apprenticeship and training programs have on creating real opportunities for local residents. I would welcome the opportunity to support efforts that align workforce development with Anaheim's continued economic growth.
I bring both hands-on and policy-level experience in workforce development. I completed the Carpenters apprenticeship program and worked in the field for over 13 years before transitioning into my current role, where I work with elected officials, school districts, and industry partners to expand apprenticeship and training opportunities. I also previously served on the San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board, giving me direct experience in workforce planning and program alignment.
I am actively engaged in workforce and community initiatives throughout Orange County, including supporting career fairs, student outreach, and apprenticeship readiness programs. Through my work, I regularly partner with school districts, communit y
organizations, and local agencies to connect residents to training and career opportunities in the skilled trades.

Jimmy Elrod
City of Anaheim Workforce Development Board – Bio
Jimmy Elrod is the Deputy Political Director for the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters, which represents roughly 67,000 members across 10 states, including approximately 46,000 in Southern California. In his role, he advocates for policies that expand access to quality careers in the skilled trades and strengthen local workforce pipelines. He works closely with elected officials, school districts, and industry partners throughout Orange County to advance apprenticeship programs, community workforce agreements, and career technical education opportunities that support local hire and economic growth.
Jimmy began his career in the trade, completing the Carpenters’ apprenticeship program and spending over 12 years working in the field. This firsthand experience informs his work today, helping bridge the gap between workforce development policy and real-world career pathways.
He remains actively engaged in connecting students and job seekers to opportunities through initiatives like the Carpenters’ Career Connections pre-apprenticeship program, with a focus on expanding access to career pathways for local residents and supporting a skilled workforce that meets the needs of Anaheim’s growing economy.
