RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, approve the Agreement with the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), allowing the Anaheim Fire & Rescue Department (AF&R) to provide fire, emergency medical services, and ambulance transport services to the unincorporated area bordering southwest Anaheim, north of Ball Road, for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2026, and authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreement.
DISCUSSION:
Anaheim Fire & Rescue has been providing fire and medical services to an unincorporated area of the city since 1996. The initial contract period expired in 1999 and was extended four times. In 2017, the agreement was amended to increase OCFA's payment to Anaheim from 50% to 65% of the secured Structural Fire Fund revenue generated in the Service Area. In 2020, the agreement was renewed with the same new rate. In the current renewal, the rate remains 65%. The 2025 agreement updates the service period and is retroactive to July 1, 2025, and will expire June 30, 2026.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Revenues associated with this service are included in the Fire & Rescue department's FY 2025/26 budget, estimated at $125,000.
