ACTION:
That the City Council receive a presentation of the City’s plan for fireworks enforcement [informational item].
BACKGROUND:
At the September 23, 2025, City Council Meeting, Council Member Natalie Rubalcava requested a presentation on fireworks. In response, the Anaheim Police Department, in coordination with Anaheim Fire & Rescue, Code Enforcement, and Park Rangers, developed a plan to address firework-related calls through a dedicated enforcement team while ensuring increased emergency call volumes are responded to promptly. Staff will provide a presentation outlining the strategy, which includes public communication efforts, emergency response, enforcement operations, confiscation of illegal fireworks, and the deployment of drones and a helicopter to support enforcement activities.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Related enforcement activities are funded within existing departmental budgets.
