RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, through the nomination and appointment process, make appointments to two (2) scheduled vacancies on the Library Board for terms expiring June 30, 2026, to a four year term ending June 30, 2030.
DISCUSSION:
City boards and commissions perform a valuable service to the City by providing a means by which the City Council can obtain the advice, opinions and recommendations of City residents and other members of the community. The Library Board acts as an advisory body to the City Council relating to matters pertaining to the operation and conduct of City libraries.
The Library Board is comprised of five members all of whom shall serve a term of four years, as governed by Section 908 of the City Charter, and is excluded from the by- district appointment method. The board members are appointed by a majority vote of the City Council.
The Local Appointments List has been posted pursuant to Government Code Section 54972.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funds to support the work of the Library Board is budgeted by the City Department providing support and liaison.
