CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK
DATE: JULY 14, 2026
FROM: OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK
SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY

DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (AT-LARGE TENANTS)
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 15
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: NO
RECOMMENDATION:

That City Council, through the nomination and appointment process, make two (2) appointments to the Housing and Community Development Commission with terms ending December 31, 2026 and December 31, 2028.

DISCUSSION:

City boards and commissions (“commissions”) perform a valuable service to the City by providing a means by which the City Council can obtain the advice, opinions, and recommendations of City residents and other members of the community. The Housing and Community Development Commission acts as an advisory body to the City Council and assists in soliciting citizen participation relating to community development efforts and uses of HUD funds within each respective neighborhood council area. The commission consists of nine members, two of whom are tenant members. Nine of the appointments are directly nominated by and serve a term concurrent with the nominating elected official. The two tenant members are nominated and appointed by a majority vote of the City Council.

The two vacant tenant members shall be residents of the City, as well as qualified tenant members issued and administered by the Anaheim Housing Authority.

Pursuant to Section 54974 of the Government Code, the Notice of Unscheduled Vacancy was posted and has remained posted for ten working days.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Funds to support the work of the Boards and Commissions are budgeted by the City Departments providing support and liaison.

Respectfully submitted,
Theresa Bass
