My name is Maria. March 1st my husband and I met and immediately fell in love with a 6 month old puppy at AVAS we brought her home and everything was great. 2 weeks after bringing her home, she had her first seizure. We didn’t think much of it, brought her to the emergency vet where they said she has epilepsy. A few days later she developed tremors associated with distemper. The shelter gave us paperwork stating she was completely vaccinated. Sadly after just 3 weeks of having our little girl home we had to say goodbye and put her to rest. This shelter is overcrowded and the conditions the dogs are in are unacceptable. While viruses are spread through shelters on a daily basis, proper vaccination on intake, quarantine, and proper disinfection procedures need to be implemented at this facility. These animals deserve more. Do better
