Dear Mayor Nassif, Mr. Robertson and Council Members,
I appreciate all the research and work that went into the AVAS Proposal and future expansion/changes. I do have some follow up questions. I realize this is not on the agenda, but perhaps Mr. Robertson can elaborate on the following:
1. Is there a detailed timeline for when these changes are to be implemented?
2. Can the dog play yard be a priority? As well as rebuilding the volunteer program?
3. Can the town organize a shelter fundraiser and a group shelter dog walk, to help the dogs get out and socialize a bit? Perhaps at your local dog park? I’d be happy to volunteer and help walk/run the dogs as well as, help you organize such an event.
4. While the shelter expansion is in process, can you bring in temp kennels to give the dogs a bit more time to be rescued or adopted?
5. Can you publicly post your rescue partner info, as well as any breed specific requirements they have, so that the networkers can contact them directly to promote the animals at intake? This will free up some of your staff time and perhaps the networkers can avoid scrambling last minute to save pups that are pending euthanasia.
6. What is the situation with your shelter director? Is she still on medical leave? How long will this continue? Who is actually running the shelter while she is on leave? Thank you for your time and consideration!
