To the Town of Apple Valley’s Board of Directors:
I am writing to express my deep concern about the disturbing allegations of mismanaged funds and animal abuse at our town's animal shelter. These reports, if true, paint a deeply troubling picture of an institution failing to fulfill its fundamental responsibility of providing care and protection to vulnerable animals.
The financial mismanagement, if confirmed, is a betrayal of public trust and diverts resources away from the animals who desperately need them. Animal abuse, under any circumstance, is unacceptable and necessitates immediate and decisive action.
I urge the Board to take the following steps:
* Conduct a thorough and independent investigation into the allegations of financial mismanagement and animal abuse. This investigation should be transparent and involve qualified individuals with no prior connection to the shelter. * Hold accountable any individuals found responsible for wrongdoing. This may include disciplinary action, termination of employment, or even legal action, depending on the severity of the offenses.
* Implement significant reforms to address the systemic issues that allowed these problems to occur. This could involve revising financial oversight procedures, strengthening animal welfare protocols, and meningkatkan staff training. * Appoint a new Director with a proven track record of ethical leadership, financial responsibility, and animal welfare expertise. This individual should be committed to restoring the shelter's reputation and ensuring the highest standards of care for all animals.
The Townes animal shelter plays a vital role in our community, and its well-being directly impacts the lives of countless animals. I implore the Board to take swift and decisive action to address these concerns and ensure that our shelter becomes a model of compassion, accountability, and responsible animal care.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Janet Mowery, Animal Lover and concerned citizen
