Town of Apple Valley Council,
Mayor Nassif and Town Council,
Please APPROVE the Amended SBC Contract on Today’s Agenda (6.15)! Also, please consider having AVAS provide Public Notice regarding the animals who are “Pending Euthanasia” Daily.

This will give Rescues and Networkers a chance to focus on the animals who are MOST URGENT!
Finally, SBC no longer requires rescues to provide spay/neuter certificates, while AVAS not only still requires them, but they charge a $75 deposit to rescues and suspends them when the certificates are not provided w/in 90 days. Rescues are not the ones trying to breed dogs…the last thing most rescues want is more puppies to be responsible for. Sometimes it’s difficult to get spay/neuter appointments, or the animals are too sick for the procedures. You mentioned doing away with the spay/neuter certificates in Doug Robertson’s proposal on 4/11/2023.

Why is that still an issue?
It’s time for AVAS to work together with Rescues and Networkers, to help solve the current shelter crisis.

PLEASE Stop the KILLING of INNOCENT ANIMALS ! You must and can do better for animals! Support Veronica Golub, Support a new CONTRACT! Apple Valley is a notorious killing shelter in California. Supervisors, you can change this deadly paradigm. Solutions can always be found to STOP THE KILLING!! Ask Animal Care Services for transparency, accountability and OVERSIGHT.

Euthanazia Rates of healthy animals are out of control. Please focus, Advocate for Humane Solutions to Animal overpopulation:
 Free Spay-Neuter Programs For Low Income Residents
 Emergency Funding For Spay- Neuter Services/Assistance  Stricter Illegal Breeding Laws and Enforcement
 Stricter Animal Abandonment Laws
 Statewide Spay-Neuter Mandate
 Statewide Animals Identification and Registration Mandate  Tax Incentives for Californians with Adopted Spayed-Neutered Animals  Social Media Responsibility, State Regulations for Online Animal Sales  Transparency in Shelters operations - Mandate Animal Shelters to publish Monthly intakes, Euthanasia and Live Release rate.

Sincerely,
Elena Gaffney
