Dear Town Council Members,
I am writing to express my appreciation for the collaboration between the Town Council and the County in improving relationships, citizen accountability, and animal population control through renegotiation of your service contract.
The addition of free spay and neuter through a TNRV initiative shows commitment to addressing the overpopulation of companion animal crisis. We are truly grateful for the progress that you have made.
I urge the continued requirement of proof of sterilization for animals leaving through rescue.
Additionally, supporting free or low-cost spay and neuter services for all shelter animals, including those for rescue, can increase the save rate and alleviate shelter burdens.
Sponsoring additional spay and neuter clinics for locals and encourage the request for grant funding to help pay for such an initiative.
Strengthening the foster program starting at street level with the finder with the involvement of Animal Services would enhance public safety and improve the return to home rate.
This will eliminate the burden on the community who are untrained and exposed to potential harm from stray animals with unknown temperament.
I would be grateful for an opportunity to elaborate on this process in more detail outside of this email. Thank you for considering these important initiatives and your dedication to animal welfare.
Best regards,
Georgia Lykouretzos
