Hello Apple Valley ,
Hi Apple Valley Shelter Admins,
This is a plea for compassion for the AV community cats. More has to be done for the cats in Apple Valley. There are an overwhelming amount of many cats coming into the AVAS shelter and facing almost certain Euthanasia. Please keep expanding your TVNR (Trap, Vaccinate, Neuter and Release) programs to give these innocent babies a chance to live out their golden years in loving homes. I read that you have a limit on 2 cats per household? Is that correct? That doesn't make sense because most feeder colonies have at least 5-10+ cats. Why put this limit and not fix all the cats? Isn't that Common Sense? The program has to be expanded to be effecƟve or its simply a giant facade waste of Ɵme and resources. All the outdoor cats HAVE to be fixed or there is no point. Just one unfixed female can repopulate the area in 12 months with 10 more cats. You owe it to these poor cats you are in a posiƟon to help, you owe it to the community as animal control workers and caretakers. The community needs help, they feed outdoor cats and do not have the Ɵme or money or whatever excuse people have to not fix their outdoor cats because they do not have the resources, you have the means to help. Isn't that Common Sense? The program has to be expanded to be effecƟve or its simply a giant facade waste of Ɵme and resources. All the outdoor cats HAVE to be fixed or there is no point. Just one unfixed female can repopulate the area in 12 months with 10 more cats. You owe it to these poor cats you are in a posiƟon to help, you owe it to the community as animal control workers and caretakers. The community needs help, they feed outdoor cats and do not have the Ɵme or money or whatever excuse people have to not fix their outdoor cats because they do not have the resources, you have the means to help. The root of the problem is feeding outdoor cats without fixing them. Outdoor cats HAVE to be fixed or your will have an overpopulaƟon and shelter crisis which is happening and ongoing. This has to be addressed by increasing your TVNR program in all areas, educaƟon, help with trapping, loaning traps out, reducing costs for low income families, increasing the number of available appointments, etc etc. Feeders have to be taught how to be responsible caretakers. The cat rescuers that independently rescue cats from Apple Valley Shelter are all over capacity and overwhelmed. I do what I can in my local community, I honor pledges to mulƟple rescuers that pull from AVAS and donate automaƟcally every month to a handful more that pull (Rescue Cats) from AVAS oŌen. Please be the change the community needs so badly to keep helping these cats and finding them homes. We hate to see so many cats trapped in AVAS facing Euthanasia from overcrowding and more get dropped off everyday. Please network with local schools to get more adopƟons, network with local news staƟons to get more adopƟons and get the word out that you have so many beauƟful loving cats that desperately need loving homes. And stop saying they are almost all feral because so many that get out labeled as feral are immediately loving once out of the shelter at their foster home. Ive seen this many Ɵmes, cats rescued from Avas labeled feral are immediately in their foster homes making biscuits purring in foster parents laps. Please do more Apple Valley. TVNR works. It all helps. The trapped cats in AVAS desperately need help.
