SUMMARY
The Arcadia Chinese Association and the Arcadia Fire Department Foundation have offered a gift of $20,000 to fund ongoing Arcadia Fire Department training projects. It is recommended that the City Council accept the donation.
DISCUSSION
The Arcadia Chinese Association (the “ACA”), as part of their 2024 theme of “safety, stability, and sustainability,” selected the Arcadia Fire Department Foundation as the beneficiary of their 2024 fundraising gala that was held on January 20, 2024.
Established in 2023, the Arcadia Fire Department Foundation (the “Foundation”) is an independent, community-based non-profit organization that supports the Arcadia Fire Department through fundraising and by promoting partnership between the community and the Fire Department. The Foundation supports the Fire Department’s programs, projects, and activities not funded through the City’s General Fund budget. Specifically, the funds donated by the ACA and the Foundation will help fund training projects such as the design and development of a new training center within the City.
All donations to the City over $10,000 are subject to the approval of the City Council pursuant to the Arcadia City Charter, Section 1218 and City Council Resolution No. 7514.
