Hello Arcata City Council-member Alexandra,
My name is Lorien Sanchez. I live at Old Arcata Road. I happen to know two of the other Council members quite well, and I chose to email you because I’m anxious about having to address this topic with people I know personally.

I am in favor of low income housing but I believe this project is overburdening the Bayside community as it will create a lot more traffic and does not of fit with the style of homes or general lot sizes and acreage of the surrounding “rural” community. Moreover, I’m of the understanding that it’s proposed to make an exception for (or exempt) the property by bypassing regulatory contamination cleanup. From my perspective, the roundabout and the newly paved road has attracted an increase in traffic and is during peaks hours is congested and loud. This is just an observation but I believe traffic and noise studies would support this. 45 housing units will definitely increase traffic noise and pollution. The City seems to be over-developing Bayside for their own special purposes without regard to the community in which the development is happening. Those proposing this development most likely don’t live directly on Old Arcata Road and/or adjacent to the parcel. This is my home, a place to sleep soundly and have respite from a hard days work, yet it’s becoming less and less of a retreat, and more like living in a busy, loud city.

Please follow environmental laws and respect the community by proposing development that is reasonable and in line with the surrounding lots.

Thank you.

Lorien Sanchez
