To the CIty Council:

A number of local Jewish citizens are interested in seeing the city council put out a call for humanitarian needs on both sides. Often forgotten by the local community are the many hundreds of civilians and soldiers in Israel with life threatening injuries both physical and mental. There aren't enough trained specialists to help heal all those affected by this war. Thus we suggest a resolution that respects both sides. Surely the CC does not want to alienate its many Jewish citizens who object to the literal embrace of propaganda in the form of anti Israel activism. Therefore we suggest the following:

The City of Arcata expresses deep concern for civilians suffering in Gaza and for civilians harmed in Israel.

We:

Support rapid, safe, and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza,
consistent with international humanitarian law and rigorous aid-monitoring.

Condemn any obstruction, diversion, or looting of aid by any actor, including armed groups,
criminal elements, or authorities, and urge all parties to facilitate secure corridors for aid workers
and medical teams.

Call for the immediate release of all hostages in Gaza and protection of civilians and civilian
infrastructure by all parties.

Urge national and international authorities to expand crossing capacity and predictable deconfliction, including transparent inspection procedures that speed aid while preventing
diversion.

Encourage our residents who wish to help to donate to vetted humanitarian organizations with
strong monitoring and local delivery partners.

We hope you can rise above the vitriol which is not based on objective fact and clearly support both sides who are affected by this war that was started by Hamas. We disagree in principle with any resolution as a foreign war should not be the focus of a city council under any circumstances.
