Updates regarding the January 2, 2026, Downtown Arcata fire emergency were provided by the following individuals: City Manager Perry, Fire Chief Emmons of the Arcata Fire District, Chief of Police Ortega, and the Executive Director of the Arcata Chamber of Commerce, Meredith Maier.

ON MOTION BY MATTHEWS, SECONDED BY STILLMAN, AND WITH A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE, THE COUNCIL ADOPTED RESOLUTION NO. 256-32 TO CONFIRM THE EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY AND RATIFY THE DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY SERVICES' PROCLAMATION. AYES: WHITE, ATKINS-SALAZAR, MATTHEWS, SCHAEFER, STILLMAN. NOES: NONE. ABSENT: NONE. ABSTENTIONS: NONE.
