Dear Mayor White and Councilmembers Matthews and Schaefer, This email pertains to the new Capital Improvement Project (Arcata Gateway Trails #81-32) described on page 7 of the packet for Wednesday's study session. It states "Planning, design and construction of walking and biking trails for active transportation within the Arcata Gateway Plan area". I am really hoping that that will explicitly include L Street as a Linear Park/Woonerf.Since I won't be able to attend and make comments in person, I'm sending this now.

As you know, our adopted General Plan identifies that within the Gateway Area Plan to “Initiate planning for a linear park and woonerf on L Street from Samoa to 11th within two years of adoption of this plan" (document page 68 under the GAP Mobility Chapter, Implementation Policy 7.5).

Please see attachment below.

And as you know, the community has voiced strong support for the L Street Linear Park and Woonerf, a sentiment echoed by the three Councilmembers who were able to discuss and adopt the Gateway Area Plan.

Thank you for your consideration to ensure that the community's vision for the L Street Linear Park is reflected in your CIP discussions on Wed and that the planning for L Street/Woonerf can be initiated for the 2026-7 fiscal year.
