Please feel free to use additional paper and/or attach your resume to this application.

My civic and institutional involvement spans local, state, and national governance frameworks.

Before arriving in Arcata, my leadership background initiated within the Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC), where I first served on the influential legislative affairs committee for my region before advancing to become the Chair of the prominent student research caucus. Nationally, I expanded my advocacy by securing a seat on a major committee for the United States Student Association (USSA), currently standing as the sole California community college student representative active within that federal student network. Locally, I anchored my campus community by serving as an executive board member for the Associated Students of Mendocino College (ASMC). Through that role, I was selected to represent the student body directly on the district shared governance committee for technology, collaborating seamlessly with college administrators and local stakeholders to oversee institutional policy.

Reasons for wantin to serve on this commission/committee.

My decision to apply for the Wetlands and Creeks Committee is directly rooted in my academic • training as a Biology major with a specialized focus on Ecology at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. My primary objective on this body is to apply rigorous, evidence based frameworks to local watershed management, riparian habitat restoration, and urban runoff conservation. Having managed complex consensus building on public boards, I intend to bridge the gap between academic research and municipal policy implementation. Ultimately, my vision is to serve as a scientifically disciplined asset who ensures the city's critical wetlands and creeks are managed with maximum ecological integrity and long term sustainability. My • interest in serving on the Energy Committee is backed by my direct technical experience conducting research on hydrogen fueling stations for alternative energy vehicles (continued on additional document).
ou would brin to this commission/committee.

I bring a highly specialized, multi layered background in public sector governance, statutory compliance, and parl iamentary procedure. Having served as an executive board member for the Associated Students of Mendocino College (ASMC) and as a student representative on a district shared governance committee, I am intimately familiar with bridging the gap between administrative executives, public stakeholders, and voting bodies. My extensive tenure chairing a prominent statewide caucus for the Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) has fully trained me in the strict mandates of California's Brown Act, agenda setting protocols, public comment management, and Robert's Rules of Order (continued on additional document).

If appointed, your name, appointment date, and term of office will be subject to public disclosure.

City of Arcata: Commission/Committee Application Form
Additional Document
Reasons for wanting to serve on this commission/committee:
(Continued from Application) My goal for this appointment is to help advise the City Council on scalable strategies for municipal grid modernization, clean vehicle infrastructure integration, and sustainable energy systems. Leveraging my background analyzing alternative infrastructure, I will provide the committee with data-driven insights into resource allocation and system efficiency. My vision is to help transition our municipal framework into a forward-thinking model of modern alternative energy resilience. I am applying to the Historic Landmarks Committee to protect and promote the city's social, built, and cultural assets. My vision is to advance community outreach and education regarding landmark designations, ensuring our historic resources and older buildings are preserved for future generations. My extensive public board experience has trained me to balance strict regulatory code compliance with broader community interests. I look forward to working collaboratively to honor the city’s heritage while supporting the sustainable development of our architectural, aesthetic, and cultural environment.

Please state expertise you would bring to this commission/committee:
(Continued from Application) Nationally, my current service on a federal committee for the United States Student Association (USSA)—standing as the sole California community college student representative—and my distinction as a national Udall Scholarship nominee prove that I operate under an elite standard of policy analysis and executive leadership and possess the precise regulatory discipline required to maintain absolute neutrality and manage complex public sessions. My specific expertise for the Wetlands and Creeks Committee is grounded in rigorous scientific inquiry and environmental policy analytics. As a Biology major with a specialized emphasis in Ecology, I possess advanced academic training in watershed dynamics, riparian ecosystem stability, and urban runoff mitigation. I understand how to analyze hydrological data, evaluate environmental impact reports, and assess local biodiversity metrics. This background allows me to provide the committee with evidence-based insights, ensuring the city's critical creeks, wetlands, and aquatic habitats are managed with maximum ecological integrity and long-term sustainability. For the Energy Committee, I offer direct technical expertise in alternative energy systems, infrastructure scalability, and municipal grid modernization. My background includes formal research analyzing the deployment, safety protocols, and mechanical networks of hydrogen fueling stations for alternative energy vehicles. This data-driven research training enables me to assist the City Council in evaluating municipal resource allocation, clean vehicle infrastructure integration, and sustainable energy grid transitions. I am fully equipped to review complex technical proposals and help transition the city into a forward-thinking model of clean energy resilience. My qualifications for the Historic Landmarks Committee tie my deep respect for local cultural heritage to my rigorous training in strict regulatory code compliance. Through my shared governance and statewide caucus leadership, I have extensive experience interpreting complex public codes, charters, and preservation guidelines. I am uniquely prepared to balance the legal mandates of landmark designations with broader community development goals. I intend to leverage my communication background to enhance public outreach, educate the community on architectural and aesthetic preservation, and help honorably safeguard the city's heritage of older buildings.
