RESOLUTION NO. 24-xx
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
ATHERTON APPROVING EARTH DAY BUDGET AMENDMENT
FOR FY 2024/25

WHEREAS, the City Council supports the proposal of the continued one-day event for Earth Day; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Atherton Earth Day event has grown considerably over the years to include community partners; and
WHEREAS, led to increased event coordination of resources, volunteers, and staff time to provide an improved community Earth Day Celebration experience; and WHEREAS, this event takes tremendous amount of support and planning for activities, food, exhibitors, special demonstrations, and outreach from community stakeholders; and WHEREAS, Earth Day event is a tremendous opportunity for the community to gather and connect on various topics of sustainability and climate change impacts; and WHEREAS, the event has grown in complexity, attendance, and expanded the planning efforts of the Environmental Programs Committee and the Town allocated budget of $5,000; and WHEREAS, in review of the production efforts to put on the Earth Day event, it is recommended the Town engage an event planner consultant to assist staff with coordination and planning efforts; and
WHEREAS, to account for potential event planner and full production efforts, an increase of $5,000 corresponding adjustment in expenditures is necessary for Environmental Program Committee Expense; and
WHEREAS, in review of the 2025 Earth Day event celebration, these adjustments are to be made to the Operating Budget as set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the Town of Atherton does hereby approve an amendment to the FY 2024-25 Town Budget to enact the changes identified on Exhibit A attached hereto.
