SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL OATHS OF OFFICE
RECOMMENDATION
City Clerk will conduct the Oaths of Office to two (2) members of the City Council that were officially appointed to office at the August 20, 2024, City Council meeting.
BACKGROUND
At the August 20, 2024, Council meeting Council Member Diana Hawkins-Manuelian and Council Member Elizabeth Lewis were officially appointed to the Atherton Town Council by Resolution No. 2024-15. Both candidates successfully qualified for the ballot during the candidate filing period and as a result of having two (2) candidates for two (2) open seats Council opted to appoint both incumbents to the offices to which they were nominated and cancelled the election in accordance with Election Code 10229.

PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with this agenda item being listed, at least 72 hours prior to the meeting in print and electronically. Information about the project is also disseminated via the Town’s electronic News Flash and Atherton Online. There are approximately 1,400 subscribers to the Town’s electronic News Flash publications. Subscribers include residents as well as stakeholders – to include, but be not limited to, media outlets, school districts, Menlo Park Fire District, service provides (water, power, and sewer), and regional elected officials.
