SPECIAL MEETING
Mayor Lewis called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL – Hawkins-Manuelian (Excused Absent), Widmer, DeGolia, Vice Mayor Holland (Excused Absent), Mayor Lewis – Present
PUBLIC COMMENT – NONE
STUDY SESSION ITEMS
1. FEEDBACK REGARDING C/CAG VOTE ON SMC TRANSIT TAX PROPOSAL Mayor Lewis provided a brief introduction to the item and noted that City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) was planning a vote related to the San Mateo County Transit Tax proposal.
Sean Charpentier, C/CAG Executive Director, provided a general overview of the planned discussion by the C/CAG and the needs for the measure related to financial constraints.
The Council discussed SB 63 that would authorize a regional initiative to establish a local sales tax for public transit funding. After a brief review of the options being considered by SamTrans Council continued to discuss the implications of the measure.
The Council came to a consensus that it would not opt to support the regional measure.
