MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY, APRIL 1, 2025
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in Special Session at Azusa Light and Water 729 N. Azusa Avenue, Azusa CA 91702
A. PRELIMINARY BUSINESS
Mayor Pro Tem Alvarez called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order at 6:30 pm.
CITY COUNCIL ROLL CALL: Roll call was taken by City Clerk Cornejo.
PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: ALVAREZ, AVILA, MENDEZ, BOW
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: GONZALES
Elected Officials: City Clerk Cornejo
Staff Members: City Manager Gonzalez, Interim City Clerk Services Manager Demirjian and Deputy City Clerk I Krystal Avila.
B. PUBLIC COMMENT
None
C. BOARD AND COMMISSION INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENTS.
1. City Council to Interview Candidates for City of Azusa Boards and Commissions.
• Arts, Cultural & Historic Preservation Commission (3 Positions)
The City Council conducted interviews for three (3) vacancies on the Arts, Cultural & Historic Preservation Commission. Five of eight candidates were interviewed, three applicants did not show.
Following interviews, the City Council deliberated on their top candidates for appointment.
Ratification of the action by City Resolution will be added to the April 21st meeting.
Moved by Councilmember Avila and seconded by Councilmember Bow to appoint Yvonne Rosas Petty to the Arts, Cultural & Historic Preservation Commission for a partial term ending September 30, 2027.
Moved by Councilmember Avila and seconded by Councilmember Mendez to appoint Laurie Wray to the Arts, Cultural & Historic Preservation Commission for a partial term ending September 30, 2026.
Moved by Councilmember Avila and seconded by Councilmember Mendez to appoint Angelica Ojeda to the Arts, Cultural & Historic Preservation Commission for a partial term ending September 30, 2025.
