SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF THE PURCHASE OF ONE 2026 CHEVY SILVERADO EV
TRUCK FOR ELECTRIC OPERATIONS AND ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $82,517.56 TO NATIONAL AUTO FLEET GROUP
BACKGROUND:
The Electric Division has a 2014 Ford F-150 EcoBoost truck, unit #703, with an internal combustion gasoline engine in its fleet. This truck is assigned to the Distribution Supervisor to carry out all the essential tasks and duties associated with his position. Currently, this vehicle is inoperable. Due to its age, high mileage, and high repair costs, Staff recommends replacing unit #703 vehicle with a new Chevy Silverado EV e4WD Crew Extended Range. Staff has solicited and received a proposal from National Auto Fleet Group – a national bidding cooperative.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1) Approve the purchase of one (1) new 2026 Chevy Silverado EV pickup truck; and 2) Authorize the issuance of a Purchase Order to National Auto Fleet Group in the amount not-toexceed $82,517.56 ANALYSIS:
The current vehicle (unit #703) serves as a critical resource for the Distribution Supervisor in the Electric Division. The supervisor’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: job site inspections, field crew coordination, project planning, emergency response, and electric operations-related tasks. It is imperative that the Supervisor position has a reliable vehicle to perform all essential tasks. The current vehicle has an estimated repair cost of $12,000. In addition, it has 150,000 miles on its odometer. In essence, it has reached the end of its useful life.
