ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT

MEETING DATE: January 22, 2025 AGENDA CATEGORY: Miscellaneous TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Phillip Burns, Development Services Director
DATE: January 10, 2025
SUBJECT: Appropriation of $90,000 in Capital Outlay savings to the Development Services Operating Budget within the Equipment Management Fund for the purchase of one grapple trailer and two C-Trains for the Rapid Response Team to the Development Services Operating Budget within the Equipment Management Fund.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of the appropriation.

BACKGROUND:

The hours of operation for the Rapid Response Team (RRT) within the Code Enforcement Division of Development Services has created the need for an additional grapple trailer and two C-Trains. Equipment is needed due to the increase in additional RRT response units and the higher volume of seized property.

The RRT operates 7 days a week and now has a night crew, which creates limitations in equipment availability. Additionally, equipment has become prone to breakdowns and is frequently taken out of service for repairs due to excessive use.

FISCAL IMPACT:

An appropriation of $90,000 is necessary to complete the purchase. This purchase utilizes Capital Outlay savings from canceled projects not rolled into FY 2024-25 budget.
