SUBJECT: Agreement with DOD Construction LTD ($659,000) for Construction of HUD Funded CGS for E. Truxtun Area
Accept bid and approve contract with DOD Construction LTD in the amount of $659,000 for the Construction of HUD Funded Curb, Gutter, and Sidewalk for the East Truxtun Area. (Ward 2)
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend acceptance of bid and approval of contract.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were solicited for the construction of curb, gutter, and sidewalk improvements in one area of the city receiving HUD funding. This contract will provide for curb, gutter, and sidewalk construction in the East Truxtun area. The area being improved by this project is generally bounded by East California Avenue, Union Avenue, and Haley Street. Three bids were received in response to the solicitation.

Staff find the bid submitted by DOD Construction LTD, in Bakersfield, to be acceptable and recommend approval of contract for $659,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The bid submitted is based on an estimated quantity of work multiplied by the contractor’s unit price.
Funds in the amount of $659,000 are allocated in the 2024 -25 Community Development Block Grant Entitlement and the Fiscal Year for this contract. The bid calculations based on those unit prices are less than the budget figure, however, the city enters t he contract for the budgeted funds available. Due to the fact the HUD funding is set aside for the project, therefore no impact to the City General Fund.
