(extend the term by eighteen months and increase compensation $20,000; revised not to exceed $191,000) to provide design and engineering services for Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 3 Booster Blower Upgrade.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of amendment.

BACKGROUND:

Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 3 has three gas blowers that are responsible for boosting digester gas pressure to 10 psi prior to conveyance to the gas treatment facilities. The proper operation of the booster blowers ensures that gas from digesters is collected, treated, and used by the internal combustion cogenerations engines or properly disposed of via the flare.

On January 25, 2023, City entered into Agreement No. 2023-024 with AECOM Technical Services (AECOM) to provide design and engineering services for the Booster Blower Upgrade project. AECOM was selected from City’s On-Call Library of Professional Firms and approved by staff after their proposal was found to be acceptable.

On February 28, 202 4, Amendment No. 1 to Agreem ent No. 2023-024 was approved, increasing compensation by $19,000 for additional scope of work.

During construction, a higher -than-expected number of requests for information submissions exceeded the available project budget. This proposed amendment will allocate an additional $ 20,000 for design consultant support during construction, increasing the total compensation not to exceed $ 191,000 and extend the term through December 31, 2026, to ensure project completion.
