Staff recommend adoption of the resolution and approval of the purchase.

This purchase of the Verkada Camera System is intended for deployment across various parks patrolled by the Recreation and Parks Department’s Park Rangers. The system will enhance security, he lp deter criminal activity, and safeguard public assets. With real-time monitoring capabilities, it will support both crime prevention and assist the Bakersfield Police Department in investigating and prosecuting incidents.

The City municipal code section 3.20.060(D)(6) allows the City to dispense with bidding when it is determined that the equipment is not available from local vendors and that it is in th e best interests of the City, and to the City’s economic advantage that such equipment be obtained at the lowest possible cost by entering into a cooperative procurement contract that was competitively bid within the last thirty- six months or is one that is still active and valid.
BEARCLOUD, Inc. in San Francisco, Ca, has entered into a master contract with OMNIA to offer discount pricing to public agencies for Verkada Camera Systems. Staff recommend adoption of the Resolution to dispense with bidding fo r the purchase of Verkada Camera System, not to exceed $300,000 for the Recreation and Parks Department.
