SUBJECT: Ward inclusion (1st reading) – Annexation 714 Snow No. 17
An ordinance amending the ward boundaries to include Annexation No. 714 (Ward 4)
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends first reading of ordinance.
BACKGROUND:
This ordinance amends the ward boundaries to include Annexation No. 714 in Council Ward 4. This annexation was recently approved by the Kern County Local Area Formation Commission.
Annexation No. 714 (Snow No. 17) is approximately 92.37 acres located on the north-west corner of Snow Road and Calloway Drive. The parcel has a General Plan designation of R -IA (Resource -Intensive Agriculture), SR (Suburban Residential) and GC (General Commercial) and is City pre -zoned as A (Agriculture) and C-1 (Neighborhood Commercial). The site is currently fallow land, large residential lots, and vacant residential (under construction). This area will be added into Ward 4.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The exchange of property tax revenues for this annexation is covered under the Master Tax Split Agreement (Memorandum of Understanding 15-277) between the City of Bakersfield and the County of Kern.
