SUBJECT: Accept bid and approve an Annual Contract with Granite Construction Company. ($11,000,000) for an annual contract to supply street materials.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend acceptance of the bid and approval of the contract.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were solicited for an Annual Contract to supply street materials used for maintenance of City streets.
One bid from Granite Construction Company in Bakersfield, CA, was received in response to solicitation.
The contract award is for a one-year period, renewable annually for four consecutive one-year periods at the City’s option and upon mutually agreeable terms.
Bids solicited were based on a list of various st reet materials with estimated quantities. The City determines the lowest overall bidder by multiplying the supplier’s unit price for each of the items by the estimated number of units for each item. In this case, only one bid was received in response to th e solicitation.
Staff find the bid submitted by Granite Construction Company to be acceptable and recommend approval of the contract for $11,000,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $11,000,000 are budgeted in the Capital Outlay and General Fund for this contract.
