BACKGROUND:
The City of Bakersfield Water Department owns thirty -six well sites that are equipped with 1,2,3 Tri chloropropane (TCP) treatment. The Department is regularly required to collect and analyze the samples from these well sites. The physical sampling is performed by Cal Water as part of the City’s annual operating and maintenance agreement. Samples collected by Cal Water are sent to the laboratories under contract with the Department for analysis. These laboratory results are submitted to state monitoring agencies and must be performed by a certified laboratory.
On August 23, 2023, City entered into Agreement No. 2023-209 with Fruit Growers Laboratory, Inc. (FGL) for water sample analysis services. It was selected through a formal Request for Qualification and Proposal (RFQ&P) process.
Since the agreement was awarded, FGL has performed the necessary required TCP testing for the Municipal Water System. The Department now desires to extend the term of the contract.
The proposed amendment will extend the contract by an additional year until August 30, 2026.
